Greetings from

Digital Media Talent: MyList

Here’s a list of former colleagues, conspirators and contractors I can recommend for the kinds of work described below. The list will continue to grow as former colleagues grant permission.

By the way: I’m not getting a commission for any of these referrals. I still have a stake in the webinar described below. But everything else is offered as a service to the public and to folks who I know do great work.

Blogger outreach, blogging strategy, viral promotion

I’ve never met anybody with better skills in these areas than Simon Owens. He’s a former strategist for New Media Strategies, an author of PBS’s Media Shift blog and proprietor of a small digital media agency. Not only his blog but his Twittering, for god’s sake, is award-winning.

He is fantastic at getting wide distribution of stuff using blogs, Twitter, YouTube and so on. He’s wily, creative, experienced and tireless. He’s based in Arlington, Virginia.

Health PR

Brian Ruberry of AllHealth Public Relations in Kensington, Maryland, has some of the best  health and medical journalist contacts in the business. He does excellent traditional PR and communications for health-related organizations. He has brought Simon on to do new media work for clients. They’re a great team.

Brian is selling an on-demand webinar he and I produced together. It’s about using social media to do health PR for hospitals, medical schools and educational institutions, non-profits and government agencies. “Social Media Strategies For Health Communicators: Reaching Top Health, Healthcare & Science Journalists in the New Media Environment” is about 80 minutes long and features video interviews with 4 leading national health care journalists, plus commentary by me and Simon. Unlimited use, with dozens of valuable links and PowerPoint slides to do with as you wish, costs $199. Information here. [Disclosure: I still have a financial interest in this product.]

WordPress Development

Stephen Ward is a master WordPress developer based in Mebane, North Carolina. His day job is pure WP development for multiple clients, so he knows it well and deep and in every context you can imagine. His blog reveals his strong technical knowledge of web development and technology.

As a freelancer he is fast, responsive, creative and without ego. Hire him to build, renovate, fix or optimize WordPress sites [not just blogs, but "real" websites too]. He’s great with search engine optimization.

He’s not a graphic artist. Give him a template and a sketch and he can execute. Or he can work with your designer or existing art. Did I mention he’s without ego?

Small Business Development Using Social Media Strategies

Doug Davidoff of Imagine LLC in Severna Park, Maryland, is a nationally recognized sales force and small- to midsize-business consultant. He also has an intuitive understanding of how social media can be used to support small business branding, marketing, customer service and client relationship management.

Doug’s the guy to help grow and/or fix your business, with appropriate tactical use of social media to support a broader business strategy. Sort of the opposite of the folks who just try to sell you social media and tack it onto your business. [Disclosure: I built and coached Doug on his blog.]
